Global Handwashing Day was launched in 2008 with a goal of raising awareness about the importance of washing hands to prevent diseases as well as to provide education about safe and proper handwashing techniques.
“The 2019 Global Handwashing Day theme is “Clean Hands for All.” This year’s theme follows the push to leave no one behind in the Sustainable Development Agenda. Inequalities in handwashing facilities and effective handwashing promotion programs can put individuals at higher risk for diseases that impact their health, education, and economic outcomes. This year’s theme reminds us that we must be inclusive when addressing handwashing disparities.” (source)
