Pure Water for the World Welcomes Dr. Jennifer Scott as Executive Director

Rutland, VT – March 2, 2020. Pure Water for the World, Inc. (PWW) announces the selection of Dr. Jennifer Scott as Executive Director. Scott succeeds Carolyn Crowley Meub, who retired in 2019 after serving as the organization’s Executive Director for 17 of its 20 years as a nonprofit.

Scott comes to PWW with over 25 years of social services and academic experience, for which she has been recognized at both local and state levels for excellence. In addition to instructing, she has more than 15 years of leadership experience, including operations, policy-making, strategic planning, fundraising, budget planning and oversight, human resource development, and program development.

Scott most recently served as President of the College of St. Joseph in Rutland, Vermont. She holds a Doctorate and a Masters Degree from Xavier University in Ohio and a Bachelor’s Degree from Valparaiso University in Indiana.

“The board undertook an extensive national and international search to find the right person to lead Pure Water for the World into the future,” said Paulina Bendaña, PWW Board Member and Search Committee Chair. “We are very excited about the leadership and strategic experience Jennifer brings, along with her proven track record of building transformative community partnerships.”

Scott’s strengths lie in building community, fostering teams, promoting inclusiveness and sharing of resources, demonstrating commitment to service and social responsibility, and ensuring continuous improvement and organizational effectiveness. She brings these qualities into her new role.

“Pure Water for the World changes lives,” Scott said. “It is a privilege to continue the transformative work being done by our dedicated staff, inspired board members, committed partners, and generous supporters. The organization is well-positioned to build upon its 20+ years of delivering impactful results, and I am both excited and honored to lead this amazing team as we continue to strive toward the ultimate goal of safe water and sanitation for all.”

Scott and her husband live in Rutland, Vermont with their two children.

PWW began in 1994 when a dentist from Brattleboro, Vermont traveled to El Salvador to provide medical services. Moved by the poor living conditions, he vowed to make a difference. After rallying colleagues in his Rotary Club, they returned with a mission to bring potable water to the villagers. The success of this movement outgrew the Rotary Club’s capacity, and, in 1999, Pure Water for the World, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization, was born.

PWW’s vision is a world in which all people have safe water, proper sanitation and the knowledge to sustain it for future generations. A highly-regarded and impactful organization, PWW has reached hundreds of thousands of children and families living in remote and underserved communities across Central America and Haiti.

PWW is based in Rutland, Vermont with offices in Tegucigalpa and Trojes, Honduras and Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
