Matt Korn Named Executive Director of Pure Water for the World

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Matt Korn Named Executive Director of Pure Water for the World

Rutland, VT – September 27, 2021. Pure Water for the World, Inc. (PWW) Board of Directors has selected Matt Korn as the organization’s Executive Director, following a nationwide search. Established as a 501(c)(3) in 1999, PWW is a Rutland-based nonprofit organization with a mission to improve lives by empowering people with reliable access to life’s most basic necessities: safe water and sanitation.

Matt comes to PWW with a breadth of experience, having served more than 15 years in the NGO sector. He has spent time in Asia, the Caucasus, West, Central and Southern Africa, and Central and South America working closely with partners to address a wide-range of development issues including water and sanitation, education, food security, agriculture, emergency response, micro-finance and maternal health development approaches through a gender justice lens.

“I’m proud to be serving as the next Executive Director of Pure Water for the World,” said Korn. “The impact created over the past 22 years of service by our dedicated team has been life changing for hundreds of communities in Haiti and Central America. I’m thrilled to be part of PWW’s next chapter, partnering with the Board of Directors and our many generous supporters to continue this transformational work.”

Matt has established himself as a strong and effective leader, having previously held leadership roles at the international development organization, CARE, and as an Executive Director leading a Colorado-based organization addressing community integration in mountain communities.

“The PWW Board has the utmost confidence that Matt is well-prepared to effectively and successfully lead PWW into the future,” said Bob Mohr, PWW Board President. “We enthusiastically welcome him.”

Matt will be relocating from Atlanta to New England with his wife, Cassi. An outdoor enthusiast and flight instructor, he can be found hanging around local airports or spending time hitting the trails with the family dog.

PWW’s roots began in 1994, when a dentist from Brattleboro, Vermont traveled to El Salvador to provide medical services. Moved by the poor living conditions, he vowed to make a difference. After rallying colleagues in his Rotary Club, they returned with a mission to bring potable water to the villagers. The success of this movement outgrew the Rotary Club’s capacity, and, in 1999, Pure Water for the World, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization, was born.

PWW’s vision is a world in which all people have safe water, proper sanitation and the knowledge to sustain it for future generations. A highly-regarded and impactful organization, PWW has reached hundreds of thousands of children and families living in remote and underserved communities across Central America and Haiti.

PWW is based in Rutland, Vermont with offices in Tegucigalpa, Trojes, and Maraita Honduras and Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
