Happy, Healthy 2022 from PWW

On behalf of the Pure Water for the World team, we wish you a happy and healthy 2022.

I’m thrilled to share that, thanks to you and many generous donors, we exceeded our year-end fundraising goal! The funds raised during the Clean Water is Medicine campaign will allow PWW to deliver safe water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) tools and education to more than 200 families in Haiti and Honduras this year! THANK YOU!

Last year was not without its trials. Back-to-back category 4 hurricanes tore across Honduras in late 2019 and the devastating August 2020 earthquake in Haiti left hundreds of thousands of families without access to safe water and hygiene tools. PWW supporters stepped up to meet these challenges by providing our team with the financial resources to deliver hundreds of hygiene kits and to help rebuild nine community water systems. While working through these crises, we continued our long-term, sustainable programming, including building community water systems and installing safe water filters in family homes, facilitating the construction of home latrines, delivering essential hygiene trainings, and building school WASH stations (latrines, hand-washing stations and water resources). *Please see impact summary report below.

As we enter 2022, we look forward to building upon our strong foundation, confident that, with continued support from our generous donors and partners, we have both the ability to meet the WASH needs of families living in underserved communities and proactively respond to natural disasters and crises.

We will continue to strengthen existing partnerships and explore how collaborative efforts can more fully serve communities. We will expand our WASH Training & Consultancy Services to train more organizations and communities throughout Central America. We will also be offering unique events that showcase how PWW is providing hope and opportunity for thousands.

To kick off 2022, PWW’s first-ever Virtual Journey will be held on February 10th at 12pm EST. The journey will give you an on-the-ground look at our programs in Haiti as you learn about our operations from our team and community members. This Virtual Journey will be the first of four planned quarterly events to be hosted this year that will feature clean water development leaders and content. Keep an eye out for invitations coming soon!

Our biggest change in the months ahead will be the transition of PWW’s Haiti headquarters, as we move north from Port-au-Prince to the Limonade region near Cap-Haïtien. Shifting our operations to the north, where PWW already has established partners and projects, will provide a safer and more stable environment for our team, allowing the implementation of comprehensive WASH programming to remain uninterrupted. I’m thrilled to share that four of PWW’s long-time supporters are offering to match, dollar-for-dollar, up to $85,000 to help fund this transition and expand this life-changing work! Learn more here

We anticipate challenges along the way as we continue to operate in fluid and sometimes volatile environments, yet we embrace the learning that comes with such challenges to adapt and grow as an organization, better prepared to serve and drive impact where needed most.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us.

With gratitude,
