Pure Water for the World, Inc. Thanks Outgoing Board President

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Rutland, VT – August 19, 2022: Pure Water for the World, Inc. (PWW) thanks Bob Mohr for his immeasurable contributions and steadfast dedication to the organization and the families and communities it serves. Mohr completed his term as board president on August 6, 2022.

Mohr has been involved with PWW since 2003, initially learning about the organization from his association with fellow Vermonter and long-term Executive Director, Carolyn Meub (retired, 2019). He was excited about the potential to really engage and partner with PWW, beyond just having his Rotary Club write a check. He began volunteering with the organization by leading service trips to Honduras, and later to Haiti, with fellow Rotarians and PWW supporters. Mohr joined PWW’s Board of Directors in 2005, serving several terms, with many of those years as board president.

Mohr has been instrumental to the direction of the organization. Under his guidance, the organization has expanded and matured. Highlights of his board tenure include: PWW’s initial expansion into Haiti and expansion into new regions of Honduras; emergency response efforts following the devastating 2010 earthquake in Haiti; partnership with UNICEF in Honduras; and establishment of WASH training and consulting services in both countries. Most recently, he was instrumental in finalizing the decision to transition the PWW team in Port-au-Prince, Haiti to the northern region of Limonade, where the team could be more impactful and effective. His legacy will include a focused determination to ensure sustainable WASH programs through the strengthening and advancement of PWW’s data collection, monitoring and evaluation program.

Having spent almost two decades with the organization, Mohr has seen, firsthand, the tremendous transformation that takes place when families and communities gain reliable access to safe water and sanitation.

“We are extremely grateful for the 19+ years of unwavering commitment and support that Bob has given to PWW and the people we serve,” said Matt Korn, PWW Executive Director. “PWW is a better organization, thanks to his leadership. He has left a true legacy, which will continue to impact lives for generations to come.”

Mohr was recently honored at PWW’s annual summer board meeting, where he was presented with an appropriate gift from fellow board members, Rotarians, PWW supporters and PWW staff members: in his honor, a community in rural, underserved Honduras will gain reliable access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene education. Las Candelaria is a unique neighborhood that provides assistance to single mothers and families with disabilities. The 14 families who reside in the community have homes, but no access to water and limited sanitation. The comprehensive WASH project will include: water access, community development (including the training of a local water board), wastewater management, and essential hygiene education for all community members.  *Learn more about this unique project.

A retired businessman, Mohr continues to be an active member of Rotary. He will remain serving on the PWW Board of Directors as Immediate Past President.

Alice Urban, previously Vice President of the PWW Board, succeeds Mohr, and Brian Reed will fill the role of Vice President.
