Rosa and her family live in the remote, mountainous Honduran community of El Onal, located near the Nicaraguan border. Rosa’s family has always had access to water at their home, piped from a nearby stream. However, access to water does not translate into access to safe water. Having long suffered from intestinal distress due to waterborne illnesses, this year Rosa’s family participated in safe water and hygiene education trainings and received a biosand water filter from PWW. Their intestinal complications soon disappeared. Now celebrating good health and financial savings, they look forward to a brighter future!

In fact, water is our most essential element for life.
The latest report from the World Health Organization shows only 19% of families living in rural Honduras have access to safely managed water. Take a look around your neighborhood and try to imagine that in 4 out of every 5 of your neighbor’s homes, families do not have reliable access to safe water. It’s hard to believe, yet this is life in rural Honduras and Haiti. Your generous support changes this staggering reality!
