Pure Water for the World Executive Director Retiring After 17 Years, Board of Directors Announces Executive Search

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Rutland, VT – January 31, 2019. The Board of Directors of Pure Water for the World, Inc. (PWW) announces the retirement of Executive Director, Carolyn Crowley Meub. Meub has served as Executive Director with the organization for 17 years.

From Robert Mohr, Board President, PWW

Carolyn has been instrumental in leading Pure Water for the World from a small nonprofit, providing clean water filters to underserved families and schools in Central America, to a multi-faceted, well-respected global WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) leader. She has led the organization with great passion and determination, working closely with the Board of Directors, a committed global staff, amazing volunteers, and loyal donors. She has collaborated with people across the WASH industry, helping to develop and evolve the tools, practices and procedures for implementing effective and sustainable water and sanitation programs in developing countries. Carolyn has become a respected voice and advocate on the national level.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Carolyn for her many years of extraordinary leadership and commitment to bringing life-changing safe water and sanitation solutions to children and families living in underserved communities. She will be greatly missed by all, and we wish her the very best as she enters into retirement.

The Board of Directors has assembled a Search Committee, and we are conducting a search to find PWW’s next leader. I have great confidence that this transition will be smooth and efficient, with the organization maintaining its effectiveness. With continued focus on the implementation of our established strategic plan, PWW is well positioned for continued growth and success in the evolving WASH industry. We look forward to finding our new Executive Director who will lead us into the future.

From Carolyn Crowley Meub, Executive Director, Pure Water for the World

It is bittersweet to announce my retirement. PWW has been such an enormous part of my life over the past 17 years. I was originally inspired to be a part of the organization when I learned about its purpose-driven mission. When I accepted the position of Executive Director, I had no idea how immensely my own life would be enriched. I feel quite certain that all of my prior work experiences lead me directly to this organization, its people, and the role I have been honored to fill.

I feel very confident that our Board of Directors will choose a new leader who will help take PWW into the future, and I look forward to watching the organization continue to thrive.

Thank you to the PWW team, Board of Directors, volunteers, funders, donors and members across the WASH industry for the talents you share and your commitment to this critical work. In your very capable hands, I believe that there will be a day when future generations will not know the pain, suffering and struggle of waterborne illnesses.

PWW began in the early 1990s as a small Rotary Club project, bringing clean water filters to people in El Salvador. The project outgrew the Club’s capacity and in 1999, Pure Water for the World, Inc. was established as a 501(c)(3) organization.

Today, PWW provides comprehensive safe water, sanitation, and hygiene solutions to children and families living in underserved communities. PWW also delivers a wide range of WASH training programs and consulting services, extending the reach of safe water and sanitation programs to significantly more communities; the resulting health benefits are multiplied exponentially.
